Phidias & the Parthenon
@ Musei Capitolini, Rome, 2023
An interactive experience that draws critically from the paradigms of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.
Rather than living in the narrow confines of an individual viewer (VR headset), the installation breathes in a choral space where a projection and a transparent touch panel build an experience on two levels. The projection offers a scenographic backdrop in the form of a three-dimensional reconstruction of the Acropolis and Parthenon. The transparent screen implements a level of scientific in-depth analysis via touch interface. Navigation of the three-dimensional environment occurs via a tactile interface made with industrial knobs.
Project developed in Unreal Engine 5.
Interaction design, software and hardware development by OrfWare (Orf Quarenghi).
Art direction, 3D modeling and environment design by Studio 360 (Alberto Magni).
